Trade Show Displays: How to Choose the Right One for Your Company

When selecting a trade show display, there are a multitude of options to choose from, ranging from custom-built to turnkey options, and everything in between.

When choosing a trade show display, it's important to establish answers to the following questions:

•    How often will you use the display?
Think of your trade show display is an investment. Forecast how often your company plans to use the booth and in which capacities.

•    Will the display be used for standard 10 x 10 booths, or other sizes?
If you need a versatile display that can be used in booth spaces of differing sizes, choosing a modular option will allow for flexibility.

•    What message do you plan to convey with the booth design?
Trade show attendees decide whether to visit a booth within seconds. To draw optimal foot traffic, your display should quickly and easily convey what your company offers, and quickly draw engagement. If your company targets multiple industries, this will need to be strategized for booth design graphics.

•    What is your budget for trade show freight and drayage?
Consider the shipping size and weight when deciding on a display. Trade show freight and drayage costs add up very quickly. If you exhibit internationally, count on higher fees than domestic exhibits.

•    Do you plan to set the booth up yourself or hire labor for this function?
The decision to hire labor for booth setup and teardown can get quite costly. If you have a large booth display (20 x 20 and up), hiring labor is often a necessity. Keep in mind that labor costs vary per city.

•    Does the booth display align with your company goals and objectives?
Think of your company branding and overall objectives. This should be considered when choosing the display, including frame and graphics.

•    Do you need to include media elements and product displays in your booth?
The display chosen should be flexible to have enough room and add-ons to display media and products, or be small enough for these items to be located elsewhere in the designated booth area.

Answering the above questions when selecting a trade show booth will enable you to choose the best option for your company. When thinking big-picture for your display, keep in mind that if you utilize your trade show display for a while and need an update, you could likely keep the frame of your design, and create new graphics to give it a fresh look.
